Ravnica Encounters

Ravnica Encounters

Ravnica Encounters is a collection of random events that introduce the characters to interesting inhabitants of Ravnica, bring them into conflict with the guilds, and offer inspiration for adventure. Since the characters’ allegiance depends on the individual campaign, some encounters may unfold very differently than anticipated. The same encounter can confront the characters with friendly members of their own guild or mortal enemies from opposing factions. Make therefore sure to read the encounters carefully and consider possible ramifications.

Hero Kids – Fiction – Trouble in the Basement

Hero Kids – Fiction – Trouble in the Basement

Trouble in the Basement – Hero Kids Fiction

Trouble in the Basement is the first in what we hope to be a series of fictional adventures for Hero Kids.

This is not a roleplaying adventure for your young heroes to play, but a story to read (or listen to) and enjoy. The story is in a relatively new genre called LitRPG—a story that includes obvious elements from the roleplaying game on which it is based.

Introduction

This short story introduces the reader to a few of the young heroes in Rivenshore and the types of adventures they have. The adventure takes place in the basement of the Block and Tackle Tavern and the newly discovered caves leading out from it.

Although this story is loosely based on, and is a prelude to, the Basement O’ Rats adventure available with the Hero Kids core system, it should not ruin that adventure for your young heroes. If you read this to them (or they read it themselves) before playing the adventure, it should spark their imagination and desire to find out for themselves what’s going on beneath the Block and Tackle Tavern. Reading this story after playing the adventure will provide the excitement of seeing how the bigger story fits together and to compare experiences.

We have tried to give a sample of the Hero Kids system and roleplaying, while changing up the story and leaving options to the readers’ imaginations (like how they might have used food in their inventory).

It is our intention and hope that this short story encourages young heroes to experience adventures for themselves, turn those adventures into their own stories, and to tell those stories to others.

Reader Level Note: Trouble in the Basement is about 5500 words (about half the length of a “chapter book”), has a Flesch Reading Ease of 89.6, and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level of 3.1.

Note: Unfortunately, the producers of this product sent an unedited version (with tons of errors) to the publisher for layout. The published product is embarrassingly bad, but that had nothing to do with my contribution.

Discover legendary beasts that embody the most basic of our world’s essence!

Since the dawn of time, the Elemental Dragons have roamed the cosmos. Their bodies are made out of “elements”, as the alchemical guilds call them.

Their behavior is as pure as their constitution. They are driven by their desires and their primitive emotions. Each exhibits behaviors that may seem one-dimensional to humanoids, but to them, it is these habits and feelings that define them.

Dozens of different elemental dragon species have been discovered throughout the Material Plane by alchemists who have categorized them according to their respective element’s weight (as determined by the alchemists’ guild). In this book we present information on the first five elemental dragon species and the story of one great dragon of each species.

  • Hydrogen dragons are blindingly bright creatures that socialize with other races and spread life along their path.
  • Helium dragons are the noblest of all the species and only consort with kings.
  • Lithium dragons constantly search for storms to charge their body with electrical energy.
  • Beryllium dragons hide inside mountains to protect themselves from those hunting them for their gems and to protect others from their corrosive presence.
  • Boron dragons are obsessed with creating fortified lairs, to drive off those hunting them for their scales of precious metal.
